Senior Assembly Engineer

About the role

RDP's 28,000 sq.ft Hyderabad assembly facility ships PCs, AIOs, laptops, thin clients, and AI workstations across India — government, enterprise, AI customers, and channel partners. As Senior Assembly Engineer, you will own end-to-end build quality on the production floor: line setup, SOP enforcement, quality gates, yield improvements, and continuous process refinement. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to make hardware come out clean and consistent every single time.

What you'll own

• Assembly line operations across desktop, AIO, laptop, and thin-client product lines
• SOP definition and enforcement — assembly steps, torque specs, cable routing, thermal paste application, screen alignment
• Quality gates — incoming PCB inspection, in-process checks, final functional test, cosmetic QC
• Train and supervise assembly technicians and trainees on RDP build standards
• Drive yield improvements — root-cause analysis on defects, corrective action, FMEA updates
• Coordinate with R&D and design on new product introduction (NPI) — first-article build, DFM feedback
• Maintain build-data discipline — serial-level traceability in Odoo ERP, BOM consumption, batch tracking
• Drive 5S, kaizen, and lean practices on the shop floor

What we're looking for

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on electronics or IT hardware assembly experience — desktops, AIOs, laptops, or similar consumer / enterprise IT
• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics
• Solid grasp of PC architecture — motherboards, CPUs, RAM, SSDs, PSUs, cooling, displays, peripherals
• Comfort with assembly tooling — torque drivers, calibration, ESD-safe handling, thermal compound, alignment jigs
• SOP and quality discipline — has written or maintained build instructions, FMEAs, or quality gates
• Team leadership — has supervised or trained a team of 4+ technicians
• Lean / 5S / kaizen exposure is a strong plus
